Tees Valley Mayor Visits Orangebox

Many thanks to Ben Houchen – Tees Valley Mayor for visiting us here at Orangebox Training Solutions Limited.

Orangebox Training Solutions Ltd has welcomed Tees Valley mayor Ben Houchen to their Queens Meadow Business Park in Hartlepool office, to discuss how we can help bridge the skills gap and get people back into employment.

Orangebox Training is improving the skills level by training unemployed people using an Employability Model with AEB government funding and working with local companies to fulfill their recruitment needs.

Mr Houchen visited the firm for the first time but has heard about how Orangebox Training is progressing and making use of funding for a business by utilising Teesside Business Compass.

He said: “There are a huge number of employment opportunities on Teesside which the such of Amazon, Hitachi Rail, Tees Port to make sure that we attract young local people and re-skill our adult learners and unemployed people to fill those roles.

“Orangebox is a great example of a private provider which can provide quick, bespoke courses as the market demands and help upskill and help unemployed people back into work.”

“We have many key priorities within the Combined Authority such as digital and unemployment and we feel Orangebox can help meet our priorities with the services they offer. .”

Orangebox offers training courses covering mandatory training for business and education as well as management training.  We work closely with Learning Curve to offer Fully Funded distant learning courses and help unemployed people get back into work via employability courses.  We open a Digital Academy in Hartlepool in the new year up-skilling local people in digital skills and qualifications.  The aim is to then filter them into local business who have agreed to be part of the academy.

The firm has recently helped train and upskill over 500 candidates with every course being linked to an employer. Orangebox did this by working alongside Hartlepool College of FE and Job Centre Plus.

Simon Corbett, CEO of Orangebox, said: “We know that there is a major skills gap in the digital sector within the Tees Valley as well and a high unemployment level and we like to work closely with Ben Houchen to achieve this.”

“The jobs are out there and we have local businesses looking to expand, so it is our objective to ensure we up-skill local people to fill those positions by being reactive to businesses and ensure training is relevant to industry requirements.”
