Caring for Children and Young People

The Caring for Children and Young People qualification explores different risks of abusive and exploitative behaviour and looks at effective communication, identifying steps to overcome disabling attitudes and beliefs.

Course Content

All children and young people deserve to be safe and well cared for within a safe and protective family, however unfortunately this is not always the case. With over 50,000 children identified as needing protection from abuse in the UK, it is important that those working in the care sector understand the risks of abusive and exploitative behaviour that some children experience. Knowing what strategies are used to protect them from this behaviour, whilst following procedures, is essential to helping those affected.

  • Unit 2 – Accident Prevention and Fire Safety When Babysitting
  • Unit 3 – Rights and Responsibilities in Relation to Parenting
  • Unit 4 – Parenting and Healthy Lifestyles

Eligibility Criteria

  • Learners must be aged 19 years or over (born before 1 September 1998)
  • A minimum number of 8 learners MUST be present for the induction (there is no maximum)
  • All learners must have been residing in the UK for the past three years and non EU/UK citizens must have documentary proof.
